XL Re, the global reinsurance operations of XL Group, has appointed Dermot Dick as new manager for Middle East.
Dick has experience in the Middle Eastern insurance and reinsurance market, most recently as CEO of Q-Re, the international reinsurance operation of Qatar Insurance Company (QIC).
Dick’s previous roles include executive vice president, international underwriting at QIC and deputy syndicate underwriter at Syndicate 1243 at Lloyd’s.
XL Re Europe CEO David Watson said the Middle East is experiencing tremendous infrastructure growth and continued expansion of its financial services industry.
"Dermot has a proven track record of running a successful reinsurance operation in the region. We see this as an important future growth area for XL Re in the medium to long term, and one which is best served by a dedicated underwriting team," Watson said.
