Global insurance broker Willis Group has expanded its services to clients by forming new Agri-Business unit under its subsidiary Hughes-Gibb, a specialist bloodstock, livestock and aquaculture division.

The new Agri-Business unit will include crop and forestry services.

Julian Roberts has been appointed to lead the new business unit, effective immediately. Based in London, Roberts will report to Chris Williamson, managing director of Hughes-Gibb.

Roberts has experience on the development of risk, insurance and related products such as insurance-linked securities. He founded Agricultural Risk Management, an advisory business whose clients included growers, their brokers, insurers and reinsurers.

Williamson said that Julian’s academic background in agriculture coupled with his practical experience of risk management for this sector, equips him to respond to the new demands of agri-business.
