WR Berkley, an insurance holding company, has appointed Nelson Tavares to the newly created office of senior vice president of Claims, effective immediately.
Tavares has more than 20 years of experience in the property casualty insurance industry, having served as a senior executive at a major international insurance company where he was the global head of large and complex claims.
WR Berkley chairman of the board and CEO William Berkley said Nelson he will be available to provide technical expertise and advice on a consultative basis to the operating units.
"We expect his considerable management experience and demonstrated skills to add to our executive strength," Berkley said.
WR Berkley operates in five segments of the property casualty insurance business: specialty insurance, regional property casualty insurance, alternative markets, reinsurance and international.
