A report in the trade press has revealed that German auto giant Volkswagen has joined forces with Citigroup to launch a premium credit card on to the UK market.
The Audi-branded card will offer 0% interest on all Audi purchases for six months, and carry the carmaker’s famous ‘Vorsprung durch Technik’ tagline, the Marketing Week reports says. The card will be issued by Citi Cards, a unit of US banking giant Citigroup.
Volkswagen’s move comes just a matter of weeks after another German carmaker, BMW, announced its financial services arm was to move into the UK market by launching a credit card and a range of savings and investment products.
The Audi Card will be a very different proposition from BMW’s credit card. As a financial services provider, our raison d’etre is about realizing the dream, a Volkswagen spokesman told Marketing Week.
