Union Mutual of Vermont Companies has appointed Robert Glass as the vice president of Underwriting.
Most recently, Glass was the director of Program Business Development at The Hartford Insurance Group.
Glass also held the position of Sales & Underwriting Manager at The Hartford, which he joined in 2004.
He began his career in 1987 with the Aetna Casualty and Surety and later became a regional branch manager for the Travelers Insurance Company (which acquired Aetna), responsible at different times for western New York and later for Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Western Massachusetts and Worcester County.
Union Mutual president and CEO John Fitzhugh said that Bob is known by many of their agents throughout New England and his background in New York will be useful as well. His knowledge of commercial risks should help them grow that book of business.
