Leeds-based insurer UK General has teamed up with Lifesure Group, to offer a scheme for high-end caravan owners, which is expected to fetch a minimum of £250 000 gross written premiums in its first year.

The scheme will deliver cover for touring caravans priced from £15 000 to £40 000, as reported by postonline.co.uk.

UK General schemes managing director Karen Beales was quoted by the news agency as saying that the company was impressed with the knowledge Lifesure had developed in this market.

Beales further told the publication that UK General found a way to make their idea a reality by building a completely bespoke scheme – with new policy wording and rating – that provides policyholders with a better level of cover, including extra protection for contents and caravan accessories such as awnings.

Lifesure Group managing director Ric Barnes commented: "We are always looking for niches in the market and feel our work with UK General has enabled us to find one."

According to the company, the new scheme will be available at Lifesure Group directly and through various online comparison sites.
