UBS Investment Bank Appoints Head Of North American Insurance Banking

Michael Ostow was most recently co-head of the North American Insurance Group within its FIG practice

UBS Investment Bank has appointed Michael Ostow to its Investment Banking Department (IBD) as a managing director and head of North American insurance.

Reportedly, Mr. Ostow will be based in New York and report jointly to Gary Howe and Halle Benett, Americas co-heads of the Financial Institutions Group (FIG). Mr. Ostow will join UBS from Morgan Stanley, where he was most recently co-head of the North American Insurance Group within its FIG practice.

Mr. Howe said: “Two years after the start of the financial crisis, financial institutions continue to face unprecedented challenges, which have led to a high volume of transactions, from capital raising to restructuring to M&A. The addition of Mr. Ostow to lead our insurance effort in North America will strengthen our coverage of this important sector.”
