The Hartford Financial Services Group has appointed Karen Tripp as the new executive vice president of marketing and communications.

In her new role, Tripp will report to the company’s chairman, president and CEO Liam McGee, and will oversee brand management and advertising, executive and employee communications, media relations and philanthropic activities.

Recently, Tripp served as vice president of corporate communications for L-3 Communications, and prior to that, she was general manager of global communications for General Electric’s Infrastructure business.

McGee said that Karen has an extensive background in developing marketing and communications programs that align the brand to business strategy and tie it to the unique needs of customers.

“Her experience will be a tremendous asset as we continue to focus on customers and drive a more consistent, disciplined approach to branding throughout all touch points,” McGee said.
