Symetra Life Insurance Company, a subsidiary of Symetra Financial, has established a new office in Waltham, Massachusetts, west of Boston, US.

The company has also hired 20 new employees as part of its business strategy to further expand its life insurance products, distribution and operations.

Symetra Life has appointed Michael Polonsky, former director of Sun Life Individual Pricing and Product Development as assistant vice president and senior actuary of Life Product to oversee the idea creation, development and launch of new individual life products.

Philip Calderone has been named as assistant vice president of Individual Life Underwriting, while Gregory Faux is appointed as assistant vice president of Life Product Development.

Douglas Bowden is the director of Advanced Markets, and will be responsible for consulting on complex cases and product designs with distribution partners and Symetra’s Life Sales team.

Carrie Benoit, who previously served in operations and project management roles at Hanover Insurance Group, has been appointed as director of Symetra’s Life Division New Business.

Symetra Life Division executive vice president Jon Curley said the newly appointed employees will partner with the company Washington based Life team to boost its position as the company diversify its life product portfolio and broaden our distribution network.
