Kansas-based Supermarket Insurance Group (SIG) has entered into a program partnership with State Auto Insurance Companies, through Risk Evaluation and Design (RED), a wholly owned subsidiary of State Auto dedicated to program business.

The program designed by RED, State Auto and SIG allows SIG to continue providing grocery specific coverages to protect the assets of independent retail grocers, along with specialized coverage, independent retail grocers can benefit from SIG’s loss prevention programs and claims handling expertise to potentially reduce the cost of their insurance premiums over time.

SIG said this new partnership expands its relationship with State Auto by adding the property and casualty program with the existing workers compensation insurance program that it currently underwrites for RTW, a subsidiary of State Auto.

SIG has over 30 years of experience in providing insurance and risk management services to the grocery industry and markets its supermarket specific insurance programs through a select group of independent and grocery warehouse owned agencies.

Supermarket Insurance Group president Bill Morrison said this partnership will greatly benefit the producers and the grocers we currently serve and provide opportunity to eventually expand the territory to help independent retail grocers across the US.
