The agreement allows employers to purchase Humana’s dental HMO as the low-cost option on a dual select dental plan

The Employee Benefits Group division of Sun Life Financial has entered into an agreement with Humana to offer a choice of dental plans to employer groups in select markets.

The marketing agreement allows employers to purchase Humana’s dental HMO (DHMO) as the low-cost option on a dual select dental plan, with a Sun Life plan as the high-cost option. Plans will be available through Sun Life in Texas, Florida and Illinois.

Sue Schoch, vice president of Dental Products at Sun Life Financial, said: “We’re excited to expand our dental plan offerings through this new relationship. Adding DHMO to our Dual Select Plans allows us to offer customers another option when choosing a comprehensive dental plan for their employees. Humana’s provider strength and tremendous reputation in these target markets made them a superior choice to round out our dental offerings.”

DHMO dental plans are offered by HumanaDental Insurance, and underwritten by CompBenefits Dental, DentiCare and CompBenefits Company, all of which are Humana subsidiaries. With the DHMO, a member may see a primary care dentist within the network, as often as necessary.

Plan administration will be seamless to employers, with both plans easily administered through Sun Life’s Plan Administrator Web portal. Employees have access to either Sun Life’s or Humana’s plan member sites.
