Sun Life Financial’s Employee Benefits Group has rolled out two group voluntary accident insurance plans, which enable employers to select the benefit schedules that meet the demographic and budgetary needs of their employees.

The global financial services organization said that both policies also deliver an optional accident disability benefit for employee and spouse.

Sun Life’s voluntary and multiline divisions product development vice president Leston Welsh said this accidental coverage can help employers give workers another tool to complement high-deductible health plans.

"We believe this offering provides a spectrum of coverage options geared to different needs and life stages," Welsh added.

Called as Essential plan, the first policy has a straightforward plan design with an array of options, so that employees at all levels of an organization can find a design that suits their requirements.

Products advantages include streamlined benefit schedule, benefits are payable multiple times, up to a maximum benefit amount per covered accident.

The policy has no annual or lifetime maximums, and premiums starting at nearly $5 a month, while provision to offer equal benefit amounts for employees, spouses, and dependent children.

The Preferred plan offers a strong benefit schedule for employers to most effectively meet their employees’ needs.

This policy offers low/mid/high benefit schedules, with the option to customize the product with robust list of covered benefits.

It also caters related care ranging from ER/urgent care visits and X-rays to surgical procedures and physical therapy, while giving coverage for accidental death and dismemberment up to $250,000.
