Utah-based brokerage firm Stratus Insurance Services has appointed Chris Van Leeuwen as new president of the international specialty lines brokerage firm.

Van Leeuwen brings 25 years of insurance experience to this role, having spent the last five years at Stratus putting together national programs in a wide variety of industries.

Leeuwen will replace Bret Van Leeuwen, founder of the firm, who is retiring after 31 years in the insurance industry.

In addition, Daryle Stafford has been appointed as senior vice president of the brokerage division of Stratus while Melanie Allen has been promoted to vice president of underwriting and operations.

Daryle began his insurance career at Stratus almost a decade ago and oversees the brokerage division and several national programs.

Melanie began her career with Stratus in 2005, and presently sits on the surplus lines steering committee for the Security and Insurance Licensing Association.
