Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company has appointed David LaPaul as the new senior vice president and treasurer of the company.

In his new role, Mr LaPaul will be responsible for the company’s cash and liquidity management; acquisitions and divestitures; capital markets transactions; and rating agency management.

Previously, Mr LaPaul served as assistant treasurer for Waste Management in Houston, Texas, where he was responsible for analyzing its capital structure, cash management, forecasting, and implementing financial controls. He also held senior positions with Lyondell Chemical Company and KPMG Peat Marwick.

Mark Thresher, executive vice president and CFO of Nationwide, said: “David’s broad finance-oriented background and experience in accounting and treasury, and the relationships he has in the industry will serve us well. We are pleased to have him join our executive team and I look forward to his contributions in this role.”
