MetLife has introduced new Dental Health Maintenance Organization (DHMO) MET Series of Copay plans.

The new DHMO MET Series plans were designed to offer comprehensive coverage that includes benefits based upon current market trends, the latest clinical research and most current treatment protocols.

The new plans will be offered through MetLife’s subsidiary SafeGuard Health Plans and available in California and, pending regulatory approval, will also be available in Florida and Texas, in which SafeGuard Health Plans operates.

The dental benefits offered by the MET Series are in addition to the standard features of the DHMO plans, which include no patient claims or claim forms, no deductibles, no calendar year maximums and an easy-to-understand schedule of benefits.

Members will also have access to a network of participating providers as well as MetLife’s service capabilities. The plans are available as a stand-alone DHMO or as a dual-option combination with the MetLife DPPO.

MetLife Dental Products vice president Michael Schwartz said that the changes to DHMO plans reflect the most contemporary research and best practices in dental plan design to help employers provide their employees with a cost-effective benefit option that optimizes value and patient satisfaction. These plans address important dental needs to help covered members achieve good oral health.

MetLife Dental Products vice president Alan Hirschberg, who recently joined MetLife to oversee product and network development, said that these plans now cover more than 400 procedures, 60 more than the previous DHMO plans, making the MET Series one of the most comprehensive DHMO plans in the market.
