Marsh Europe has appointed Martin South as its new CEO who will continue in his current role as CEO of Marsh UK and Ireland till a new appointment.

South, in his new role, will also be responsible for Turkey and India operations and will report to president of Marsh’s International Division, David Batchelor.

Robert Makhoul will remain as CEO of Marsh Middle East and North Africa and, Jurie Erwee, appointed recently as CEO of Marsh Africa will work with South and report to Batchelor.

Batchelor added that the broker’s profile in Africa was bolstered after the acquisition of Alexander Forbes Risk Services.

"In addition to strong organic growth, the 2010 acquisition of HSBC Insurance Brokers significantly enhanced its operations in the Middle East and our middle market and SME business in the UK," Batchelor stated.

Marsh has more than 24000 employees and provides advice and transactional capabilities to clients.
