The Main Street America, a Florida-based regional insurance company, has appointed Dave Medvidofsky as vice president and head of its internal audit unit.

Medvidofsky will be responsible for providing Main Street America’s senior management, audit committee and board of directors with independent and objective assurance on strategic, operational, financial and compliance objectives.

He will have a direct reporting relationship to the audit committee of the company’s board of directors, but will report to Main Street America executive vice president and chief financial officer Ed Kuhl for administrative purposes and remain based at its corporate headquarters in Jacksonville.

Medvidofsky has led the super regional property/casualty insurance carrier’s corporate strategy function since 2005.

In his most recent role as assistant vice president of corporate strategy, Medvidofsky led Main Street America’s long-range planning, enterprise risk management and business continuity processes.

He originally joined the company in 1991 and was a personal lines underwriter for five years. Medvidofsky returned to Main Street America in 1997 as a regional underwriting manager and was promoted to director, business development, of its Information Systems & Services (ISS) subsidiary in 1999.
