Liberty Mutual Reinsurance, the full service reinsurance arm of Liberty Mutual, has appointed Richard Mairano as an underwriting manager for the production and underwriting of program, pro rata and per risk property treaty business.

In his new role, Mairano, senior vice president, will focus on pro rata and per risk property reinsurance business, which complements the reinsurer’s existing book of catastrophe excess of loss accounts. He comes to Liberty Mutual from Ace Tempest Re.

In addition, Thomas Greene has been appointed as manage casualty treaty underwriting for the Boston-based reinsurer.

Greene, senior vice president, who joined Liberty Mutual with responsibility for the production and underwriting of specialty casualty business, will continue in this role and will also assume responsibility as casualty underwriting manager.

These developments follow the recent appointment of Michael Finnegan as chief operating officer of Liberty Mutual Reinsurance and the opening of an office in Connecticut where Greene and Mairano will be based and report to Finnegan.

Robert Dixon, senior vice president, will continue to be responsible for the underwriting of catastrophe excess of loss treaty business.
