Johnson & Strachan, a commercial and personal insurance agency, has named Charlie Venus as the new vice president of its operations.

The firm has also promoted Richard Dygve to the position of its senior vice president. Mr Venus joins Johnson & Strachan from Travelers where he had been managing underwriting director for select accounts in the company’s Washington, DC office.

Mr Venus received his bachelor of science degree in chemistry and his MBA from the University of New Orleans. He earned his associate in risk management certificate in 1981 and became a chartered property-casualty underwriter in 1996.

Mr Dygve, who started his own insurance agency in 1983 and merged it with Johnson & Strachan in 2003, will increase his scope of responsibilities at the firm.

Jeff Johnson, president of Johnson & Strachan, said: Charlie Venus’ breadth of experience in the insurance industry, as well as his proven record of success and leadership will enable our firm to better serve our customers.
