Aviva subsidiary and Ireland's largest composite insurer Hibernian has launched its Hibernian Health Insurance Plan in Ireland, following a successful pilot of the product in November.

The Hibernian Health Insurance Plan has been launched in partnership with Vivas Health, Ireland’s newest health insurance provider. The insurance will be sold under the brand name Hibernian Health Insurance Plan and will offer a wide range of benefits to customers at very competitive rates, the two companies claim.

The plan includes hospital cover, maternity benefits, outpatient benefits, A&E abroad and comprehensive cover for scans. It also includes cover for all inpatient costs in 122 hospitals and treatment centers. It offers a direct settlement agreement with all private and public hospitals ensuring patient bills are paid directly to the hospital.

The insurance plan offers all the benefits of VHI Plan B with additional savings of around E100 per person annually. For families with two or more children, the savings under Hibernian are considerable, the insurer says.

In addition, existing Hibernian car and or home insurance customers will be eligible for further loyalty discounts on their existing policies if they take out a Hibernian Health Insurance Plan. These additional discounts will also be available to any new customers who purchase more than one Hibernian product.
