Guardian Life Insurance Company of America has named Jonathan Renfrew vice president of federal affairs.

In his role, Renfrew will head Guardian’s newly established Washington, DC office and will represent the company in federal legislative and regulatory matters, and in key industry trade groups.

He will report to Tracy Rich, executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary.

Before joining Guardian, Renfrew was director of government law & strategy at Brown Rudnick in Washington DC, where he represented a diverse cross section of Fortune 500 companies, influential trade associations, and small and emerging businesses in the insurance, financial services, tax and healthcare fields.

Guardian president and CEO Deanna Mulligan said that in spite of the current economic uncertainties, Guardian has been able to fully align its interests with those of its policyholder owners, while remaining strong. They look forward to Jonathan’s contributions in helping us share that, and other important messages, with federal policy makers.
