Belgium-based banking and insurance services provider Fortis has appointed Steven Braekeveldt as CEO of Fortis Insurance International Europe, effective December 1, 2007.
Mr Braekeveldt will be in-charge of the European insurance operations of Fortis outside Belgium and the Netherlands. He will report to Peer Harten, CEO of Fortis Insurance. Mr Braekeveldt worked for ING, with banking and insurance responsibilities in Hong Kong, Singapore and Mexico.
Mr Harten said: Fortis Insurance International has undergone tremendous growth over the last years and I am certain Steven’s broad international experience in insurance and banking will help him do a sterling job in driving forward our activities. I would like to thank Jacob, for his contribution to strengthening Fortis’s position as an innovative and international player. I wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours.
