FIS Software, a provider of enterprise level end-to-end policy administration systems for financial institutions, and WorkLight, a mobile application platform technology, have partnered to enable insurance companies to provide smartphone and tablet applications to agents, brokers and policyholders.

FIS will utilize the WorkLight Mobile Platform to develop, run and manage custom and pre-packaged mobile applications to extend the reach of and accessibility to its ALIS policy administration solution.

According to the FIS, the first phase of ALIS mobile capability development and deployment will provide applications for agents and brokers to support new business and servicing apps.

It also plans to introduce self-service applications for policyholders to access their policies using smartphone or tablet devices, for both personal and group business.

FIS said it will offer WorkLight-powered mobile applications on various devices, including the iPhone and iPad, Android smartphones and tablets, BlackBerry.

The WorkLight Mobile Platform is an enterprise-grade infrastructure that enables development, integration and management of rich mobile applications.

The platform consists of the WorkLight Studio, a multiplatform IDE for native, web and hybrid development; the WorkLight Server for secure delivery, deployment and back-end integration; and the WorkLight Console for ongoing management and dynamic control for applications and infrastructure.

FIS Software CEO Shay Alon said through the partnership with WorkLight, FIS is enabling its ALIS insurance company clients go to market quickly with rich cross-platform applications, leveraging WorkLight’s Mobile Platform to efficiently extend the existing suite of services to new mobile channels.
