HumanaDental began providing dental benefits to ERS participants from September 1, 2009, under a contract that expires in August, 2013

HumanaDental Insurance, a subsidiary of Humana, has been chosen by the Employees Retirement System of Texas (ERS) to provide dental benefits for participants who are eligible for the group-benefits program, including state and certain higher education employees, retirees and their dependents.

HumanaDental began providing dental benefits to ERS participants September 1, 2009, under a contract that expires August 31, 2013.

Ann Fuelberg, executive director of ERS, said: “The State of Texas is committed to providing high quality benefits that enhance the lives and health of the state work force. HumanaDental options provide participants a choice of cost, benefit levels, service and dentists.”

ERS participants will have two choices of dental benefit plans, the HumanaDental Dental Health Maintenance Organization (DHMO) or the State of Texas Dental Choice Plan.

Under the HumanaDental DHMO, participants select a network dentist and have no deductibles, no yearly maximums and varying levels of co-payments for preventive, basic and major services.

Under the State of Texas Dental Choice Plan, the employees and retirees may choose any dentist, however, increased benefits will be provided by using dentists in the HumanaDental PPO network.

Individual deductibles per calendar year are $100 and there is a range of co-insurance depending on the type of service and who performs it. The State of Texas Dental Choice Plan has a $1,500 maximum annual benefit.

Jerry Ganoni, president of HumanaDental, said: “HumanaDental is honored to provide benefit services to one of the nation’s largest and most innovative employee benefit plans. We believe our plans offer affordable choices of benefits, with service levels that are above industry standards. Our nationwide network of dentists exceeds 125,000 and we are continually expanding to meet our customers’ needs.”
