UK based insurer Ecclesiastical has appointed Nigel Gray as its new group risk, actuarial director and chief risk officer.

An actuary with 20 years of experience, Gray will join Ecclesiastical from the mutual insurer MGM Advantage, where he was chief actuary and chief investment officer.

Previous to this position, he held senior positions with Lloyds of London, LV=, Assurant Solutions, Halifax Financial Services and Equitable Life Assurance Society.

Gray will join Ecclesiastical in early March to succeed Kevin Bogue, who is retiring.

Ecclesiastical group chief executive Michael Tripp said with wide experience of both insurance and broader financial services, Gray is well suited to Ecclesiastical, which is both an insurer and fund manager.

Ecclesiastical is an insurer of charities, the education, care and faith sectors, heritage buildings and fine art. It also offers ethically screened investment funds and has a team of independent financial advisers.
