Dual International, an Australia-based underwriting agency and underwriting division of the Hyperion Insurance Group, has expanded its global network with the opening of Dual New Zealand, a new underwriting agency in Auckland, New Zealand.

Dual said that the New Zealand agency will provide local representation to both international and local brokers across the territory, writing liability and financial products on behalf of Lloyd’s syndicates.

The New Zealand unit will be managed by Craig Anderson and joining him in the establishment of the new venture will be Martin Stroud and Paula Harris.

Anderson is an accountant with 16 years of experience in the insurance industry. He will join Dual as general manager of the corporate and specialists risks division for QBE in Auckland.

Stroud has over 28 years of experience in the international insurance and reinsurance industries having held senior reinsurance and technical roles in South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.

Harris has 14 years of experience in the insurance industry in both the UK and New Zealand.

Dual International CEO Bob Van Gieson said that the Dual Group’s biggest asset is its people – the entry into new markets and territories is always led initially by finding the right local team to develop the opportunities and drive the business forward.

"Asia Pacific represents one of the most important growth regions for Dual globally and we’re excited by the prospect of building a strong business in New Zealand," Gieson said.
