CSAC Excess Insurance Authority (EIA) has selected SIMS Claims, developed by Systema Software, to manage claims under its worker’s compensation, liability and medical malpractice insurance programs.

EIA provides insurance and risk management solutions under the ‘Accredited with Excellence’ accreditation by the California Association of Joint Powers Authority (CAJPA) to help California public entities control insurance costs, losses, and exposures.

CSAC EIA CPCU, ARM chief claims officer Jack Blyskal said that the previous system was in use for ten years and decided to review the claims software market to look at technological advances that could better meet their needs now and into the future.

"SIMS is highly flexible and can be tailored to meet our unique requirements. It offers a modern platform and robust reporting capabilities," Blyskal added.

"With SIMS, we plan to integrate our TPAs and consolidate all insurance programs onto one platform, so we’ll have claims data at our fingertips, rather than having to request and wait for information.

"Since we’re involved in legislative issues, this will make it easier and faster to get the information we need to support our positions."

Commenting on the aspects of the agreement, Systema Software sales and marketing vice president Brian Mack said in recent years, California public entities have been severely impacted by the economy, facing significant budget cuts and demands to trim expenses.
