CNA, a commercial insurance writer and a property and casualty company, has appointed Michael Furlong as the new vice president of underwriting for its specialty lines group.
In his new role, Mr Furlong will be responsible for the company’s lawyers professional liability program which focuses on law firms with fewer than 35 lawyers, and its bar-endorsed partnerships.
Mr Furlong has around 20 years of legal, claim and professional liability experience. He joins CNA from Swiss Re where he led its lawyers and accountants professional liability business.
Prior to Swiss Re, Mr Furlong worked at General Electric where he held leadership roles in claims and claim legal, and also led process enhancements initiatives.
Headquartered in Chicago, CNA’s insurance products include standard commercial lines, specialty lines, surety, marine and other property and casualty coverages. Its services include risk management, information services, underwriting, risk control and claims administration.
