Cigna, a provider of group life, accident and disability insurance, has appointed Maggie FitzPatrick as the new chief communications officer.

In her new role, FitzPatrick will be responsible for global communications and will report to the company’s CEO David Cordani. She will join the company’s enterprise leadership team.

FitzPatrick is a communications executive with experience in corporate communications, media relations, reputation management, mergers and acquisitions and corporate social responsibility programs.

Previously, FitzPatrick was an executive vice president at APCO Worldwide where she managed corporate communications programs for Fortune 500 companies.

Cordani said that Maggie has the knowledge and skills to lead the company’s communications division as it accelerates its growth across the globe.

“Her experience working in diverse sectors and understanding of global business trends make her the right person to lead Cigna’s communications in this time of change and opportunity”, Cordani said.
