Chubb 1882 has concluded its first piece of business, a marine hull risk, at its new Lloyd's operation. Chubb Insurance Company of Europe received approval from the Lloyd's Franchise Board in the beginning of this month to establish a new syndicate was named Chubb 1882.

Chubb 1882 is managed by a newly created Lloyd’s managing agency, Chubb Managing Agent, which is authorized by the Financial Services Authority in the UK.

Chubb Managing Agent has appointed Christopher Smith as its chief operating officer of Chubb 1882. Based in London, Mr Smith will be responsible for leading the operational activities of the syndicate and will report to Michael Casella, CEO of Chubb Insurance Company of Europe.

Mr Smith, an operations specialist, joined Chubb from AVGVSTVS, a management consultancy company, where he was a director for three years. Prior to AVGVSTVS, he spent his entire career in Lloyd’s beginning as a Lloyd’s broker claims technician in 1987.
