Canopius Group, a specialist (re)insurance underwriting business, has established UK retail insurance business division.

The new UK retail division will include household; specialist property/ niche personal lines; commercial combined for the SME sector; casualty, including accident & health and professional indemnity; and motor including personal, commercial and specialist vehicles.

The insurer said the UK Retail unit will also acts as the interface for the group’s distribution channels, Arista Insurance and K Drewe/ Look Insurance.

Canopius appointed Tim Rolfe as CEO to head the UK retail business.

In his new role, Rolfe’s major priority will be to implement the strategy that was developed by him as head of UK Retail Strategy, and drive profitable growth across all classes and channels with an increasing emphasis on specialist business.

He will report to group chief underwriting officer, Jim Giordano.

Following this restructure, Colin Hart, chief executive of its KGM Motor will be leaving the group and Neil Manvell will become active underwriter, Syndicate 260, subject to Lloyd’s approval.
