Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has secured non-life insurance license in Singapore, which allows the company to commence its operations in the country.

In Singapore, the company is introducing a full range of commercial insurance products, comprising commercial property, casualty, energy and construction, marine, and financial lines.

The company has appointed Marc Breuil as regional president for the new business, while Marcus Portbury as third party lines head and Peter McKenna as head of energy and construction casualty in Asia.

BHSI president Peter Eastwood said: "We are pleased to bring the stability and capacity of BHSI to serve the commercial insurance needs of customers in Singapore.

"With Marc, Marcus and Peter spearheading our entry into the local insurance market, we are pairing substantial expertise and local knowledge with our strong balance sheet from day one."

Based in Boston, US, BHSI offers commercial property, casualty, healthcare professional liability, executive and professional lines, surety, travel, programs, and homeowners insurance services for customers domestically and internationally.
