US-based Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance has appointed James O Roser as new chief information officer for the firm.

Roser comes with wide experience in the business technology area and has recently served as IT head for the Global Insurance, Global Reinsurance and Associated Infrastructure division of Markel Incorporated.

Having earned bachelor’s degree from Colgate University and a master’s degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Roser worked previously as vice president for Alterra Capital, and as vice president of information systems, CIO for bond and financial products business and commercial insurance program office/merger integration lead for The Travelers.

He also worked in the Insurance and Financial Services Practice at Accenture.

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance senior vice president and chief operating officer Todd Link said Jamie brings extensive experience and technology acumen to their efforts to utilize technology to maximize value and optimize results for their operations, their customers and their brokers.

"As CIO, he will lead our efforts to implement a state-of-the-art IT infrastructure — and create the optimal experience for our customers and brokers," Link added.
