Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has expanded its property capabilities to include builder's risk insurance.
The company also named Robert Tricamo to head the new specialty property area as Vice President, Construction.
"Builder’s risk is a natural extension of our property and specialty lines expertise. These new capabilities enable us to round out our construction offering, bringing large-scale capacity and technical underwriting experience to large projects," said Sanjay Godhwani, Executive Vice President, Property and Programs, BHSI.
In this newly created position, Mr. Tricamo will oversee BHSI’s entry into builder’s risk and its ongoing strategy and execution for the product line. Mr. Tricamo comes to BHSI with extensive technical property experience, most recently as Product Line Manager, Builder’s Risk (CAR/EAR), at Arch Insurance Group.
Before that he held a variety of increasing responsible positions in the technical property insurance arena, including Vice President, Technical Risk Property, at Quanta US Holdings and Supervising Underwriter, Property and Engineered Risks, at Swiss Reinsurance America Corporation.
Mr. Tricamo is a founding member of the North American Construction Committee of the Inland Marine Underwriters Association. He holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Polytechnic University.
"With his combination of technical skills and industry relationships, Rob is uniquely qualified to lead our expansion into this specialty line of coverage. We look forward to bringing a meaningful builder’s risk product to the market," said Dean T. LaPierre, Vice President, Property Underwriting Officer, BHSI.
