Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania (BCNEPA) has signed a new three-year agreement with Diversified Information Technologies to streamline its group enrollment processes.

Under this deal, the group administrators will email, fax or mail applications and enrollment correspondence directly to Diversified’s processing system. The company will securely scan the forms and convert them to digital images, which BCNEPA employees can immediately access and process electronically.

By using Diversified, BCNEPA expects that it will save 30% annually on the cost of enrolling group members as much of the paper will be eliminated from its internal processes, as well as reduction in the time for processing.

Besides streamlining group plan enrollment, Diversified will help BCNEPA cost-effectively and securely handle a variety of group account maintenance documents.

Upon Diversified scans the paper documents, the company will shred them after their allotted retention time, and Diversified’s system will allow BCNEPA to track each document as it’s processed.

Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania senior vice president and chief administrative officer Brian Rinker said that by reducing the time the employees spend processing group applications, BCNEPA will be more efficient so the company can keep providing high-quality health care to more than a half-million members.
