AXA ART Insurance is set to establish its branch in Canada, following federal regulatory approval from the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions Canada.

The art insurance specialist said that it will approach the concerned authority for provincial licensing across Canada and until that its existing business continuation agreement with Intact Financial Corporation will continue in force.

After completion of provincial licensing process, AXA ART’s full-service Canadian branch will be headquartered in Toronto, Ontario.

Ann-Louise Seago has been appointed as the chief agent and managing director of the newly established branch, and prior to this Seago worked as senior underwriter and fine art specialist since 2007 for AXA ART in Canada.

"The establishment of a Canadian branch will be instrumental in advancing our long-term commitment to support collectors and stewards of the art communities throughout the Canadian provinces," Seago said.

Besides providing art insurance policies, AXA ART Insurance focuses on risk prevention methods, including establishing best practices for art storage facilities and art shippers and offering security checks and facility surveys to museums.
