US insurer Aon Corporation has completed its acquisition of Footman James, a UK insurance broker, from Alchemy Partners (Guernsey). Terms of the transaction remained undisclosed.

Aon provides customized cover for specialist personal risks, including holiday homes, classic cars and antiques, among other niche lines. The purchase of Footman James will provide additional skills and resources to Aon’s existing personal lines and affinity business.

Footman James will remain independent of insurance underwriters, continuing to operate under its own trade name, and will benefit from Aon’s wider product line, infrastructure and support for its stability and future development of the business. The insurance firm’s existing policies and client service will also continue.

Paul Matthews, managing director of Footman James, said, This transaction with Aon presents an exciting opportunity for Footman James. We have built a high quality, competitive and compelling proposition and with Aon’s support we will continue to develop and invest in our business for the benefit of our clients and people.
