Aon has reported net income of $246m, or $0.73 diluted income per share, for the second quarter of 2012, down 5%, compared to $258m, or $0.75 diluted income per share for the same period in 2011.

The total revenues reported for the second quarter of 2012 were $2.82bn, compared to $2.81bn for the same quarter of the previous year.

Operating income decreased 10% to $394m, compared to $440m for the same period a year ago.

Risk Solutions segment’s revenue decreased 1% to $1.9bn compared to the prior year quarter due to 4% organic growth in commissions and fees offset by a 4% unfavorable impact from foreign currency and a 33% decline in investment income.

Aon president and chief executive officer Greg Case said, "Our second quarter results reflect improved organic revenue growth across all of our major businesses as we make significant investments to further strengthen our client-serving capabilities."
