Allianz has appointed Thomas Wilson as chief risk officer, as of January 1, 2008.

Thomas Wilson will take over this function from Raj Singh, who will take up a new position at Swiss Re per turn of the year. Mr Wilson is currently acting as chief insurance risk officer of ING Group. Mr Wilson earned his BSc in business administration from the University of California at Berkeley and his PhD in economics from Stanford University.

Prior to joining ING, he was global head of the finance and risk practice at Mercer Oliver Wyman. Previously, he was CFO and CRO of Swiss Re’s New Markets, the capital markets and alternative risk transfer division of Swiss Reinsurance. Until 1998, Mr Wilson worked as global head of the risk management practice at McKinsey&Company.
