Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America, a part of Allianz group has appointed Mike Fischer as the new vice president within the legal department.
Fischer, who replaces general counsel Gretchen Cepek, will be responsible for leading the Legal department’s oversight of business operations, product development, distribution, and tax.
Cepek was recently promoted to senior vice president and general counsel for Allianz Life.
Cepek said Fischer will bring insurance and securities industry knowledge, including proven on-site guidance to the company’s fixed annuity and life business.
"He is a strong collaborator in providing advice on product development and regulatory compliance matters and the leadership he brings to the Allianz Life Legal department will be a valuable asset going forward," Cepek added.
Prior to joining Allianz Life, Fischer worked as an attorney in private practice with the Minneapolis-based law firm Halleland Habicht PA.
Fischer also served as chief counsel at ING Americas US Legal Services, general counsel for various divisions at ReliaStar Life Insurance Company, and was associate counsel with Prudential Insurance Company of America.
