Aetna and Saint Barnabas Health Care System (SBHCS) has entered into a new multi-year agreement that will enable Aetna members who receive care at any of the SBHCS hospitals and facilities to continue to be covered at the in-network level of benefits, effective 1 January 2011.

SBHCS CEO Ronald Del Mauro said, the agreement with Aetna will help SBHCS’ patients and their families will continue to have the ability to select high quality health care facilities throughout the State of New Jersey when they are ill or injured or for preventive care.

Aetna has said that the new agreement applies to all its health plan products including Student Health and Medicare.

The hospitals included in the agreement are New Jersey-based Saint Barnabas Medical Center; Newark Beth Israel Medical Center; Clara Maass Medical Center, Monmouth Medical Center; Kimball Medical Center; Community Medical Center.

The agreement also includes covered outpatient services provided by SBHCS facilities including the System’s sophisticated Saint Barnabas Ambulatory Care Center in New Jersey, and hospice and home care services.
