Aegon has appointed executive vice president Marc van Weede as new global head of Sustainability, effective 1 October 2010.
In his new role, Van Weede will work closely with Aegon’s Country and Business Units as well as with members of the company’s executive and management boards. He will report to report to Alex Wynaendts, CEO of Aegon.
Earlier, Van Weede has served as the head of Aegon’s Group Business Development department, as well as president of the company’s joint venture in China. Recently, he was responsible for Strategy and Aegon’s Public Policy and Regulatory Office.
Wynaendts said that Marc is ideally suited to lead Aegon’s Sustainability efforts given his extensive operational knowledge and experience, as well as his appreciation for Aegon’s broader responsibilities as an international corporate citizen.
