Insurance group ACE has formed a new international energy division and appointed Matt Hardy as senior vice president to lead the initiative.

In his new role, Matt will lead efforts to increase ACE’s presence in the regions and enhance local access to its’s energy capabilities across the globe.

He will continue to be based in London and will report to Roger Giddings, head of global energy.

Matt Hardy joined ACE 15 years ago and has progressed from assistant underwriter to head of onshore energy to chief underwriting officer, ACE Overseas General Energy.

Giddings said the launch of ACE’s new international energy division is testament to ACE’s commitment to increasing its presence in the regional energy markets.

"ACE fully recognizes the importance of positioning underwriting talent, capital and capacity at a local level.

"This initiative will enable our clients and brokers to access ACE’s energy capabilities across all lines of business throughout Latin America, Asia Pacific, Europe and MENA," Giddings said.
