Aflac has promoted Martin Durant to the role of executive vice president and deputy CFO of the company. Susan Blanck has been promoted to first senior vice president of Aflac Japan.

Mr Durant first joined Aflac in 1990 as the vice president and comptroller of Aflac. He was with Aflac for 10 years, serving as senior vice president of corporate services. In 1999, he accepted a position with Carmike Cinemas as senior vice president and CFO.

Following his retirement from Carmike, Mr Durant rejoined Aflac in July 2006 as the senior vice president of corporate finance. In his new position of deputy CFO, he will continue to work closely with Aflac president and CFO, Kriss Cloninger, on capital management, risk management and other financial matters.

Ms Blanck joined Aflac’s actuarial department in 1993 in the US pricing area. She was named senior vice president and deputy corporate actuary in March 2004 and was promoted to corporate actuary in January 2006. She will continue in her capacity as senior vice president and corporate actuary, reporting to Mr Durant.

In her new position as first senior vice president of Aflac Japan, Ms Blanck will report to Tohru Tonoike, president of Aflac Japan, and she will continue her work in Aflac Japan’s product development area as well as other strategic marketing initiatives.
