The new division will provide rail, motor truck cargo, warehouse and related property coverage solutions in the region.

AGCS inland marine global product leader Helen Leonard will lead the new unit, while Samuel Rizzitelli joins AGCS as transportation product lead.

According to the company, its inland marine group services clients ranging from local haulers and warehouse operations to logistics firms and large international carriers.

Leonard said: "We are excited to bring Sam, a respected industry veteran, on board to launch this practice designed to handle the unique and often complex transportation needs here in North America.

"He has an impressive track record in understanding the risks clients face and will be supported by the Allianz global network of specialists – one of the strongest in the industry."

The firm also has transportation claims and specialty logistics package divisions that offer contingent cargo, warehouse legal liability and other specialty transportation and motor truck cargo insurance services.

Earlier this year, AGCS introduced its full suite of financial line coverage in North America. The products cover commercial management liability, professional indemnity liability and financial institutions.

Operating in around 160 countries, AGCS provides insurance and risk consultancy services for its customers.
