US-based insurance brokerage and risk management services firm Arthur J. Gallagher & Co (AJG) has acquired Mississippi-based McPherson Benefits Group.

Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

Based in Madison, McPherson offers employee benefit consultation, management and brokerage services for larger employer clients in the southern US.

The group is also specialized in the design and ongoing management of employee benefit programs, specifically on self-funded medical plans and voluntary products.

Under the leadership of Gallagher’s South Central employee benefit consulting and brokerage operations head John Neumaier, McPherson’s Tracie McPherson and her associates will continue to operate in their current location.

Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. chairman, president and CEO J. Patrick Gallagher, Jr. said: "The McPherson team is highly regarded for their benefits expertise, industry knowledge and strong market relationships.

"Their Mississippi presence, quality client service and team-based culture will be a great complement to our south central employee benefits operation. We are pleased to welcome Tracie and her colleagues to our growing Gallagher family of professionals."

In October this year, AJG acquired Ohio-based Sigma II Insurance Agency, which provides a broad range of employee benefits products and consulting services to their commercial and individual clients across the Midwest.
