Implemented Top Layer’s IPS 5500 E-Series intrusion prevention solutions to fortify its defenses, while optimising network performance and ensuring PCI compliance

Top Layer Security has announced that Permanent General Companies, a group of automobile insurance companies, has implemented its IPS 5500 E-Series intrusion prevention solutions to fortify its defenses, while optimising network performance and ensuring Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance.

The business need, combined with several compliance requirements, including the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), require that Permanent General provide data protection for its network and customers, while allowing valid network traffic to travel to and from its companies quickly.

Permanent General’s initial solution for protecting its network would often shut down while attempting to mitigate Permanent General’s heavier network traffic, frequently blocking legitimate network traffic. When placed in front of the existing IPS during testing for Permanent General, Top Layer’s IPS 5500 blocked all malicious traffic while handling more traffic and maintaining network availability.

Permanent General’s transition to Top Layer was made easier through its use of Top Layer’s Trade-Up Program, which allows customers using IPS solutions from 3Com/TippingPoint, IBM Internet Security Systems or Reflex Security to trade in their solution for Top Layer’s award-winning third-generation IPS 5500 E-Series system.

Top Layer Security is a provider of Network Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS).
