US-based insurer Brown & Brown has reported a net income of $36.49m, or $0.25 diluted earnings per share, for the fourth quarter of 2011, compared to $32.15m, or $0.22 diluted earnings per share, for the same period in 2010.

The total revenue for the fourth quarter of 2011 rose 6.2% to $244.1m, compared to $229.94m for the same period a year ago.
