Lloyd's insurer Beazley has appointed Will Roscoe as new underwriter on the open market property team.

Beazley said the open market team, which focuses on large and complex risks placed in the London market, led 77% of the business it underwrote in 2010.

Roscoe will join Beazley from the global markets international division of Willis, where he has held a series of senior positions, including most recently director of broking.

At Willis, he led a team of eight brokers placing a diverse portfolio of large non-US international risks in the London market.

Beazley’s property division underwrote gross premiums of $382.5m in 2010, accounting for 22% of the group’s total premiums.

Beazley head of property Jonathan Gray said Will’s expertise and extensive experience of international business will be extremely valuable to Beazley as it continues to expand and diversify its portfolio.
