Swiss-based insurer Zurich Financial Services has launched a new underwriting guide in a bid to simplify the current complexities surrounding the underwriting process.

The new guide, aimed at intermediaries, is designed to increase the understanding of Zurich's approach to underwriting, in addition to ensuring intermediaries are well equipped to explain the underwriting process to their clients.

Issues addressed in the new authoritative guide, which is available online, include key factors affecting risk assessment, medical definitions and hazard pursuits classifications, among others.

We recognize that the underwriting process can seem quite daunting at first to both intermediaries and their clients, commented Phil Brown, director of underwriting and claims at Zurich. That's why we have produced this comprehensive guide which will give intermediaries greater insight into Zurich's underwriting process and help simplify the application process, making it easier for intermediaries to do business with us.

Furthermore, the guide provides intermediaries with practical tips to help them with the application process, such as the appropriate method to submit medical information, as well as a requirements checklist to ensure additional evidence is submitted correctly.

This is the latest in a number of guides Zurich has produced to support intermediaries and advisers in explaining key information to their clients.
